Joy Garrido graduated in architecture from Universidade Santa Úrsula (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) in 1978. After concluding her studies, she moved to New York and specialized in interior design. Back in Rio de Janeiro, she dedicated her work to this field, always creating harmony between functionality and beauty, designing both commercial projects and residences. In her 34 years of work, her trademark has always been the mix of contemporary and classic styles.

By participating in local architectural fairs and interior design shows from the early stages in her career, such as Casa Cor Rio and Mostra Artefacto Beach & Country, Joy Garrido has become a signature name in Rio de Janeiro. Her reach expanded throughout the years to states outside Rio, such as São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Rio Grande do Sul, and Bahia.

Among her most acclaimed commercial projects, are the ones related to Health, such as Hospital Samaritano, Clínica Huntington de Medicina Reprodutiva and Centro de Medicina Integrativa Sergio Abramoff. Health has always been an area of interest for Joy, who has studied how esthetics can impact patient’s well being.

At the moment, with the current real estate boom in Rio de Janeiro, Joy is designing several new residences throughout the city. Other than that, she is elaborating new lounges for Shopping Leblon, one of the main malls in Rio de Janeiro.
